Utility 15kV Control Relay

Electrical Engineering Services: Bath provided electrical engineering services for replacement of existing electromechanical 15kV control relays with solid-state intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) at the Client’s existing substation incoming lines, feeders, and capacitor banks. The electrical design scope of work included:

  • CAD one-line diagram, elevation, relay schematic, and switchgear relay wiring diagrams
  • Relay coordination and relay settings
  • Updated arc flash study with new relay settings
  • Updated SKM model for 15kV distribution

Automation and Integration Services: In conjunction with the electrical engineering services, a new SCADA/HMI system was also required. Bath was able to provide a complete turnkey solution with an automation and integration services scope of work that included:

  • System architecture development and specification of automation equipment including security gateways, managed Ethernet switches, and automation controllers
  • Automation controller configuration settings enabling IED data access, event collection, engineering access, and remote breaker control with interface to the associated local HMI and third-party utility
  • Design and development of an HMI system that allows local and remote data access with breaker controls between the headquarters (HQ) and two remote substations. Both the HQ and local HMIs will include historian, reporting, full system control, and message capability with local archive evacuation available for data storage management
  • Deployment of the two remote substations completed separately in two phases to accommodate the Client’s maintenance schedule
  • On-site startup with end to end testing of each substation
