Hospital
Areas of Specialization: Commissioning / LEED Commissioning: Electrical, Instrumentation/Controls, Mechanical
Bath Engineering Corporation was selected to design three significant projects for Thomason General Hospital. These projects have a combined value in excess of $150,000,000. A new children's hospital which the owner anticipates adding to Bath's scope of work will increase the total project value to over $250,000,000.
Shown in the sketch at right shows a new ten-story hospital tower adjacent to the hospital's existing eight-story building. The scope of this project consist of over 400,000 square feet of new and renovated space. The central plant will produce 5,500 tons of chilled water in addition to high and low pressure steam. A co-generation plant will provide power to the complex.
At the same site, Bath is designing an infrastructure project which has been divided into several sub-projects designed to reduce the hospital's energy costs and/or improve patient comfort. An existing poorly-functioning absorption chiller will be replaced with a high-efficiency certrifugal chiller. Other changes include the replacement of air handlers with modern variable speed units and the conversion of a primary pumping system to a primary-secondary-tertiary system.
Bath is also providing building commissioning services for Thomason's extensive renovation of two floors fo the existing hospital tower.
On Thomason's northeast campus, Bath is designing mechanical and electrical systems for the construction of a new clinic building.
