CNG Station - Virginia

GRTC Transit System is a world-class transportation system serving the Greater Richmond, Virginia region. It is considered one of the most efficient transit systems in the United States.

In 2011, GRTC began the multiyear conversion of its entire fleet of buses and special transit vans from diesel fuel to CNG. Initially, the fleet included 166 buses and 75 special transit vans, but system growth will likely result in an even larger fleet by the time conversion to CNG is completed.

When the CNG project was announced, GRTC Transit System CEO Eldridge Coles said "Right now, we're paying about $3 a gallon for diesel.  These buses fuel will cost us – at this time – about $1.10 per gallon so it's a big difference, a big saving to GRTC."

Bath teamed with Wendel, an A/E firm with local presence, to design a new 3,360 scfm CNG facility that consists of compressors, dryers, dispensers, fuel management, and other equipment.  Trillium was the successful bidder for construction of the facility.
