Medical Research

Texas Tech University Health Science Center is building a new four-year medical school.  The multi-building campus used two existing buildings as a foundation and it is adding several new buildings on an adjacent site.  Bath designed infrastructure renovations for both of the existing buildings.  Then, Bath was selected to provide professional services on each of the new buildings.

The first new building to was a research laboratory building.  It included BSL3 laboratories and a vivarium, as well as suites and offices for the department chair and faculty. This four-story building has 93,000 square feet of usable space.  The lead design consultant is SmithGroup.  Bath served as the Commissioning Authority.  In this capacity, Bath provided a detailed peer review of design documents at several designated milestones during the design process, prepared commissioning specifications and test report forms, and observed field testing.  Bath's field representatives were on site daily throughout the construction process and they maintained an issues log that project participants used to assure client satisfaction.
