DESCRIPTION:
Cx Field Agent works with the design and construction team to ensure that equipment and systems are installed properly and functioning at the optimal efficiency level and at client and operational expectations. An individual in this position is responsible for creating and maintaining positive professional relationships with all disciplines involved in the project.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review equipment submittals and shop drawings for compliance with design intent, owner requirements, and testing standards
- Conduct site inspections using pre-functional checklists and functional performance tests
- Document and report commissioning progress, findings, and corrective actions in clear, timely status updates
- Verify completion of preventive-maintenance materials and record-keeping for commissioned systems
- Facilitate client and project-team meetings to review Cx status, resolve technical issues, and confirm handover readiness
- Maintain equipment logs, master deficiency lists, and commissioning records
- Plan and participate in regular Cx team meetings to align schedules, milestones, and resource allocation
- Perform retro-commissioning and diagnostic assessments when needed
- Support ad hoc Cx activities and other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
KNOWLEDGE
- Thorough knowledge of HVAC engineering theories and methodologies
- Thorough knowledge of building automation and controls
- Thorough knowledge of design documents
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Knowledge of system installation and functionality requirements
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Comprehension – ability to understand information, ideas, and direction presented in writing and/or verbally communicated
- Written Communication Skills – ability to clearly deliver a message through written words using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Speech Clarity – ability to speak clearly and in a common language so that others can understand you
- Detail-Oriented – ability to achieve accuracy and thoroughness when accomplishing a task; pays attention to details and is able to understand the cause of a certain outcome
- Judgement and Decision-Making Skills – ability to make reasoned judgments that are logical and well thought out; constructively questioning and analyzing information in order to make the best conclusion
- Technical Writing Skills – skilled in the area of summarizing or explaining technical information in a clear, concise, and accurate way, communicating the point intended
- Organizational Skills – can marshal resources (people, funding, material, support, etc.) to get things done; can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish goals; uses resources effectively and efficiently; arranges information and files in a useful manner
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ten years of experience with MEP systems, automation, and controls OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) with five years of applicable experience

- Frequently use a computer for several hours at a time
- May need to periodically maneuver over, under, and around barriers as well as climb ladders on a job site
- May need to periodically transport ladders, equipment, and plans weighing up to 30 pounds
- Requires the ability to climb stairs, walk around, and stand at a job site for several hours at a time
- Frequently travel by car and plane in order to visit job sites and attend meetings, conferences, and events

- Indoors in a normal office environment with some exposure to excessive noise, darkness/poor lighting, fumes, or dust
- May travel to and navigate construction sites, some of which may be at high altitudes or small spaces with dirt or dust particles
- Frequent overnight travel (about 50% of the time) to attend project meetings, perform job site visits, and attend trainings/conferences
